Littelfuse a Winner in Plant Engineering's Product of the Year Competition
CHICAGO, Illinois, February 23, 2012
Littelfuse, Inc., a leading expert in electrical safety, power distribution and control products, has been chosen as a winner in the 24th annual Plant Engineering Magazine Product of the Year competition for its Arc-Flash Relay (PGR-8800). The competition honors the best new ideas manufacturing suppliers have to offer to improve operations. In 2011 Littelfuse expanded its protection relay line by adding the PGR-8800, which is a stand-alone relay with up to 24 light sensors. The product was designed to be quick and easy to install in both new and existing switchgear equipment.
“Speed is extremely important as early detection of an arc flash minimizes damage to expensive equipment, potential for fire, and more importantly, injury to personnel. Our Arc-Flash Relay sets a new standard for this product category. It is not only one of the fastest relays on the market but is also easy-to-install and easy-to-use,” says Tony Locker, P.E., Product Manager for Littelfuse Protection Relays.
“We are honored to be recognized by industry experts who understand the impact of this Arc-Flash Relay on improving electrical safety,” added Dan Stanek, General Manager of the Littelfuse Protection Relay and Custom Electrical Products Business.
About the PGR-8800 Arc-Flash Relay
The Littelfuse Arc-Flash Relay detects excessive current in combination with light, which is one of the earliest warning signs of an arc-flash incident. This enables the PGR-8800 to quickly distinguish an arc flash from unrelated current and ambient light fluctuations, defending the installation from nuisance tripping.
