Design Notes:

Protection Application:

Solar cells arrayed into 12V or 24V nominal output groups. Primary threat is lightning. Also need to be concerned with reverse polarity connections during installation and failures of individual solar cells.

Solution Description:

TVS: 5KP30A for 24V Panels. Fuse: FKS (164.6185 Series) up to 40 Amps, TOE MAXI (142.6885 Series) up to 80 Amps with appropriate current rating for maximum panel output.

Companion Solutions:

Smaller, limited exposure systems may use 1.5KE36A TVS devices.
