PLAINVILLE, September 14, 2023 - Carling Technologies, a Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ: LFUS) brand, announced improvements to its AVH-Series sealed anti-vandal pushbutton switches. Available with dependent LED illumination, the feature can now be configured in one of two ways. The first is to have the ring-style LED on whenever the specified output is on. The second is to have the LED on whenever the mechanical latching switch is on.
"Some motors, even after power is removed, will act as a generator to keep the LED lit as it slowly stops rotating. The option to have the LED on when the mechanical latching switch is on eliminates that issue," said Jerry Peplau, Product Manager. "In addition to the new LED illumination option, we've made several updates to the design that will improve our customers' overall experience using these popular switches."
The AVH-Series illuminated switches are often used in security panels, public transit systems, traffic signals, emergency phones, industrial controls, and marine and outdoor applications.
What Else is New and Improved on the AVH-Series?
The AVH-Series is a high-current pushbutton switch available with ratings up to 30 A. Known for its safety and performance capabilities, it is well-suited for momentary, latching, NAV-ANCHOR, and dual output applications.
In addition to the new LED illumination option, the AVH-Series features the following improvements:
- Led+ terminal can come out via a red wire for end-user wiring
- Will not trip off if the load is disconnected via an external switch
- New black ground wire eliminates miswiring of the ground tab and allows use as a drop-in replacement
- No false trips due to a momentary drop in battery+ or ground when another unrelated circuit is energized
While the AVH-Series must be used in a circuit that has a fuse or circuit breaker of the correct amperage, it features an integrated thermal cutoff for safety in case of overheating.
For backfeed protection, the use of an external diode is still required.
