How do high-voltage dc contactor relays work?

In a typical high-voltage dc contactor, when a control voltage is applied to the coil contacts, it generates a magnetic field that attracts a movable iron core toward a fixed core. Movable contacts attached to the moveable core are pulled toward fixed contacts. When the contacts meet, it completes the circuit and allows power to flow to the load. When the control
