The CPC5001 is a single-channel each direction non-inverting digital optical isolator with buffered-logic inputs and open-drain outputs. When the two sides are powered by different supply voltages, it also functions as a logic level translator for levels as low as 2.7V or as high as 5.5V. It functionally replaces two logic buffers and two single-channel opto-isolators. Internal bandgap references regulate the LED drive currents to 3mA to reduce peak power requirements.
The CPC5002 is a dual high speed optical logic isolator with open-drain outputs. Activating the input LED causes the open-drain output to turn on, pulling the voltage of the external pullup resistor towards ground. Utilizing CMOS technology enables the output stage’s high-gain circuitry to operate with a miserly power consumption of <5mW (typical) when operated with a 3.3V supply voltage and a low input LED drive current of 1.5mA.
Both devices provide 3750VRMS of galvanic input to output isolation. Buffered signals will always return to their proper value after a transient interruption at either side.
