Optically isolated gate driver ICs ensure the optimal performance of MOSFETs that perform low frequency switching tasks. As patented by Littelfuse, the integrated circuits combine and coordinate the operations of LED inputs, photodiodes, optocouplers, capacitors, and metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors. This design eliminates the need for multiple discrete TRIACs, mechanical relays, and switching diodes. The result is simplified circuit design and lower component costs for solid state switches in industrial control modules and telecommunications equipment.
