Single switch MOSFET modules can act as ac–dc converters, dc–dc converters, and DC choppers for electric motor drives and switched-mode or resonant mode power supplies. EV makers often use these solid state switches because the metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors are paired with fast diodes that ensure dv/dt ruggedness.
