N-channel depletion MOSFETs offer reliable switching and current-regulating solutions for always-on circuits, such as those for emergency and burglar alarms. These metal-oxide–semiconductor field effect transistors operate as normally on solid state switches. Unlike other MOSFETs, they require no start-up voltage to open. Like other MOSFETs, they mount easily on printed circuit boards.
