Battery Combiners

What is a battery combiner? A battery combiner (also known as a battery combiner switch) is a relay that automatically connects two or more batteries or battery banks during charging, allowing for a single charging source. Our HD series battery combiners, for example, automatically combine battery banks when one battery bank is actively charging, then disconnects them when the charge voltage is removed. Our battery combiner relay options support high current loads and eliminate the cost of routing heavy copper cables to mechanical-only battery switches.
  • Continuous current ratings up to 300 A
  • Bi-stable relays with very low quiescent current draw in the ON or OFF positions
  • Sealed options for use as a marine battery combiner or for use with batteries in commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks
  • Allows you to automatically charge multiple batteries or battery banks from a single charging source
  • Eliminates the cost of routing heavy copper cables to mechanical-only battery switches

Frequently Asked Questions

What are battery combiners?

Battery combiners are relays that allow the charging of multiple batteries or battery banks from a single charging source. They have much lower voltage drop and higher current pass-through than diode isolator charging systems.

How do battery combiners work?

A battery combiner relay automatically puts the batteries in parallel when a charging voltage is sensed and automatically disconnects them when the charging voltage is removed. Charing the starting battery is always prioritized.
