IP Camera and DVR Security System
Use of security cameras and surveillance systems is growing, facilitated greatly by Power over Ethernet (PoE). POE makes it possible to connect a camera with just one cable, rather than separate signal and power connections.
But parts of these security systems are often installed outside, where the devices and cabling are exposed to electrical hazards such as nearby lightning-induced surges and electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Ethernet, USB, HDMI, memory slots, keypads and other ports can all serve as entry points for surge transients.
As equipment has gained in capabilities, it relies on integrated circuits that have built-in electrical protection. The diagram below shows Littelfuse protections solutions for these types of threats.
